For this lesson, I would have pictures of several different items from a particular country that we were going to talk about and would give each student a picture of something to research. This could tie in with a geography or social studies lesson and also writing because I would have the students compile their research on the origin of the object and its meaning into a written paragraph to share with the class. Technology would be used to research and also give students typing practice. An example would be using the picture to the right and researching the lei and how it is used in the state of Hawaii or another island country. This would be a great way to introduce an upcoming lesson for students in second or third grade classroom.

I think that your lesson is great. Having the students explore different countries and cultures allows them to get a feel for different students in the classrooms backgrounds as well. Would you give the students a list of countries or would you just let them pick them?
I really like your lesson plan idea! What a way to incorporate so many different aspects of learning into one while implementing technology! I think it is a great way also to incorporate maybe the students different background by doing countries that they are from or have family from to make it more special for them. Good idea though, sounds fun!
Diversity is key in this world , and this is a great way to incorporate the whole "world" theme into a digital picture. It is so important to expose children at an early age about other cultures, teach them to accept all types of lifestyles, etc. and this is a great way to creatively express this thought. Maybe if they can research their OWN culture, they can learn about their heritage as well as teach others, so they have this skill for a while?
This is such a great idea to learn about different cultures for so many reasons! It's good to learn about and understand and embrace other cultures from a young age so that children can learn to accept and respect everyone. So that's such a great thing to teach early on!
