Blog #11-Non-Computer Based Technology
I believe that a good technology that is not computer based is the Alpha Smart keyboard. I have just recently discovered the best uses for this product. This keyboard can be attached to a computer but can also function alone as a word processor. Up to five files can be stored and then can be imported onto the computer once it is plugged in. This can be used in schools where the number of computers are limited or to let students work at their desk all at once. This is a technology that is cost effective and easy for students to use. Using them regularly could also improve typing skills in younger children which would be a beneficial skill for children to develop earlier.

Lauren,
I believe the Alpha Smart keyboard to be a great technology tool for the classroom as well. It is great for schools that do not have a large supply of computers, and it does not cost that much. It can also help children with typing skills, and help students who learn more technological.
I agree that the Alpha Smart keyboard is an excellent non-computer based technology. It seems as if there are lots of advantages to having this. It is a much lower price to purchase compared to a computer and would be useful in many situations. It could indeed help with typing skills and it's a neat device beause it can function as a word processor. It is definitely a technology device that would be extremely useable in our classrooms.
Lauren,
I agree that the Alpha Smart is a good tool for the classroom. I would like to know how much it actually costs. It would be a great and simple way to get the students typing. It is an easy tool to use and it does not take much effort to learn how it works.
